People in the News: Andrew Miller; John Sninsky, and more

Andrew Miller 

Cepheid announced that CFO Andrew Miller will leave the firm on Feb. 3 to become CFO at PTC, a Needham, Mass.-based software firm. Cepheid VP and Corporate Controller Daniel Madden will assume the role of principal financial and accounting officer until a new CFO is appointed.


John Sninsky

CareDx has appointed John Sninsky as its new chief scientific officer. He most recently served as VP of discovery research at Celera, and following that firm's acquisition by Quest Diagnostics, he served as the head of Quest's Science & Innovation site in Alameda, Calif., and oversaw organization-wide bioinformatics.


David Mittelman

Tute Genomics has hired David Mittelman as its chief scientific officer. He joins the company from Arpeggi, a bioinformatics company he co-founded that was acquired by Gene by Gene in 2013. Previously he was an associate professor at Virginia Tech. Mittelman has a PhD in molecular biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his postdoctoral training at Baylor’s Human Genome Sequencing Center.


Scott Coward

Scott Coward was named by Exact Sciences as its senior vice president and general counsel, effective Jan. 1. Coward was most recently managing partner of K&L Gates' Raleigh, NC office, where he specialized in corporate and securities law, and M&A for life science companies. Prior to that, he was general counsel at Blue Rhino, associate general counsel at GE Medical Systems Information Technologies, and a partner at Smith Anderson.
