Agilent Technologies 4200 TapeStation System

Agilent Technologies has launched the 4200 TapeStation system, a fully automated instrument that enables scientists to rapidly analyze up to 96 DNA samples at a time. The system enables end-to-end quality control of samples and libraries in any sequencing workflow, using any number of samples from one to 96, at a constant cost per sample, Agilent said in a statement. The system employs a range of prepackaged kits for RNA, DNA, and genomic DNA samples, including two new kits, the D5000 and HS D5000 ScreenTape assays, which have been specifically designed for analyzing DNA fragments and smears of up to 5,000 base pairs.

IDT Alt-R CRISPR/Cas9 System

Integrated DNA Technologies has introduced the Alt-R CRISPR/Cas9 System for genome editing. The system provides ready-to-use RNA reagents that also reduce cell toxicity by featuring shortened, synthetic RNA oligonucleotides which do not activate innate cellular immune responses. The technology is based on the CRISPR/Cas9 system in Streptococcus pyogenes.

Transgenomic CMT NGS Panel

Transgenomic has launched its CMT NGS Panel for the diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth peripheral neuropathies. CMT neuropathies comprise a group of genetic disorders that affect peripheral nerves and are considered part of the muscular dystrophy family. There is considerable varability in the large number of genetic mutations associated with CMT, so Transgenomic designed its panel to test for all 36 reported CMT disease-causing genes, the company said. However, studies have also shown that a majority of patients have mutations in a single gene, making a sequential approach to CMT testing economical and efficient, the company noted. As such, Transgenomic is also offering CMT Reflex Analysis, which comprises first-tier testing of commonly occurring PMP22 deletions/duplications. If these come back negative, then all 36 reported CMT dosease-causing genes are sequenced, Transgenomic said.
