LifeMap Sciences, a subsidiary of BioTime, has released VarElect, an application for prioritizing gene variants from next-generation sequencing experiments. According to the company, the tool prioritizes variants based on their potential association to disease or phenotypes of interest.


Bio-Rad ddPCR KRAS Screening Multiplex Kit

Bio-Rad has launched the Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) KRAS Screening Multiplex Kit. The kit offers simultaneous detection of the seven most common KRAS mutations in a single ddPCR experiment. It is the latest offering in Bio-Rad’s line of predesigned, wet-lab validated assays for ddPCR.


Biocept Selector Liquid Biopsy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Biocept announced it has launched a blood-based EGFR mutation test for non-small cell lung cancer patients based on its Selector technology platform. Screening circulating tumor cells and DNA, the assay targets a region of the gene that includes T790M, a biomarker that identifies therapy-resistant tumors. This test will be performed at the firm's CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory.


Affymetrix Axiom Genotyping Arrays for Porcine, Equine Studies

Affymetrix has expanded its menu of Axiom Genotyping Arrays with new chips for studying pigs and horses. The company's new Axiom Porcine Genotyping Array and Axiom Equine Genotyping Array are now available for use by the agriculture community via its Axiom Expert Design Program. Each array contains more than 600,000 markers. The arrays will be featured at a company workshop during the Plant and Animal Genome conference, held this week in San Diego.
