NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Luminex said this week that it has launched its xTAG cystic fibrosis 39 Kit v2 and xTAG Cystic Fibrosis 71 Kit v2 as CE IVD Marked products in Europe. The multiplex tests screen for common CFTR gene mutations and for additional mutations that are typically found in specific ethnic populations.
The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture has ordered 17 GeneLABs for molecular analysis from AmpliBio. Each system will contain Advalytix's AmpliSpeed single cell molecular analysis cycler, and Implen's nanophotometer for quantifying DNA, RNA, and proteins. AmpliBio also is supplying the Mexican Institute for Epidemiology with nanophotometers to increase the institute's capacity to screen for H1N1.
Millipore has opened a new 30,000-square-foot bioprocess manufacturing facility in Danvers, Mass. The firm will produce a range of its Mobius single-use product line for biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies at the new facility, it said this week.

It said that Isilon IQ delivers more than 5 petabytes of capacity and up to 45 gigabytes per second of performance in a single file system.
DNA Genotek this week said that it is partnering with the Roswell Park Cancer Institute to collect DNA saliva samples on site at the Susan G. Komen Western New York Race for the Cure, being held this weekend in Buffalo, NY. The partners will use Oragene DNA sample collection kit. The samples will become part of RPCI's Data Bank and BioRepository.
