NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Life Technologies this week said that for the second year in a row it was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The index was created 10 years ago and tracks sustainability of companies worldwide through criteria such as corporate governance, business ethics, human rights, talent development, community involvement, employee safety, climate change, eco-efficiency as well as environmental and social reporting.
ArrayIt has launched a biomarker discovery service. The firm said that it will run analysis of DNA or RNA samples on a custom microarray for a contract fee ranging from $100,000 to $1 million. It said that it will retain a "small percentage of each discovery as a downstream royalty."
The University of California, Santa Cruz Genome Sequencing Center said that it is now conducting sequencing services from other academic institutions and regional biotech companies. The center said that its sequencing arsenal includes the Roche 454 Life Sciences' GS FLX Titanium Series sequencing platform and the SOLiD sequencing platform from Life Technologies.
Advion BioServices said that it has expanded its LC/MS Biomarker Services Group. The firm said that it will assign an increased commitment of staffing, Thermo Scientific and Applied Biosystems mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography, and automated liquid handling systems to this service.
