In Brief This Week: BioTrove; Eksigent; Definiens

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – BioTrove said this week that it has installed its RapidFire High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry screening platform with its first European customer. The firm said that Boehringer Ingelheim is using the system for expanded in vitro ADME applications. It also noted that BI had installed a Rapid Fire system at its Laval, Canada, site.

In addition, BioTrove said that the RapdFire system recently received the CE and ETL Marks, acknowledging mandated health, safety, and environmental requirements were met, enabling marketing distribution across the European Union and Canada.


Eksigent Technologies said that it would increase its manufacturing capacity by 40 percent to meet strong demand for its HPLC products. The Dublin, Calif.-based firm said that its board of directors approved spending last month for additional equipment, tools, and staff. Eksigent expects to complete the expansion next month.


Definiens said this week that it has successfully completed the certification process for the worldwide common quality management standards DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and EN ISO 13485:2007. The Munich, Germany-based bioinformatics firm said that the certification audit was conducted by the Notified Body Landesgewerbeanstalt Bayern.
