Portugal's IPATIMUP Diagnostics Named Ion Torrent CSP

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Portuguese firm IPATIMUP Diagnostics said that it has been named a certified service provider for Ion Torrent's sequencing platform.

The company received the CSP designation last month. It said that being a CSP assures customers that IPATIMUP Diagnostics has been trained and complies with standards for next-generation sequencing established by Ion Torrent, a Life Technologies business.

IPATIMUP Diagnostics is a fully integrated pathology, molecular genetics, and forensics lab and is a unit of the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of Porto University in Portugal.

It said that it was the first company in Portugal to receive an Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine sequencing platform and last month launched its first genetic test on the platform.
