As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's acquisition of Life Technologies, Thermo has established a new business segment called Life Sciences Solutions. Mark Stevenson will serve as executive vice president and president of Life Sciences Solutions, reporting to Thermo Fisher CEO Marc Casper. Stevenson was previously COO of Life Technologies.

Greg Lucier, former CEO of Life Technologies, is not joining the new company. Last fall, he was named chairman of Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute. Lucier said he will also be investing in start-ups and mentoring CEOs.
