RainDance Technologies has appointed Jay Therrien as vice president of worldwide sales, Roger Schaller as business leader of next-generation sequencing, and Yafei Liu as head of commercial operations for Asia-Pacific.

Thierrien was previously senior vice president of global sales at Knome, vice president of commercial operations of sequencing at Life Technologies, and has also held sales roles at Illumina. He holds a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a PhD from the University of Kansas.

Schaller joins RainDance from Affymetrix, where he was senior director of business development for the molecular diagnostics business. Previously he was director of North American sales and marketing at Cepheid. He has a BS from Illinois State University.

Liu was previously responsible for Life Technologies' China sales team, selling digital PCR, sequencing, and quantitative PCR products.


Kevin Hrusovsky is stepping down from president of life sciences and technology at PerkinElmer, effective May 31. Jim Corbett will take over the position.. Hrusovksy joined PerkinElmer in 2011, when it acquired Caliper, where he had been serving as CEO since 2003. He holds a BS from Ohio State University and an MBA from Ohio University.


NorthShore Bio has announced several of its management and board members.

Jonathan DeHart is cofounder and CEO. DeHart is an advisor at Growth Science. Previously, he held several positions at Intel, most recently as head of strategy, biochips.

Gordon Holt is cofounder and chief scientific officer. He previously held roles at Intel and Oxford GlycoSciences.

In addition, the firm has appointed Rob Lipshutz as a member of the board and Siva Narendra as an advisory board member.

Lipshutz is senior vice president of strategic partnerships and chief business officer at the Institute for Systems Biology. Previously, he held executive positions at Affymetrix. He holds a BA and AM from Harvard University and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

Narendra is cofounder and CEO of Tyfone, a mobile banking company. Previously, he was with Intel Laboratories. He holds a PhD from MIT.
