Life Technologies has appointed Carol Cox to senior vice president of external affairs and corporate communications, a newly created position. Cox has served as vice president of investor relations of Life Tech since she joined the company in December 2011. Previously, she was vice president of investor relations at CareFusion and vice president of global corporate communications and investor relations at Barr Pharmaceuticals. She holds a BA in international relations from the University of Virginia.


Louise Mawhinney, formerly chief financial officer of Helicos, has been appointed to chief financial officer of Aratana Therapeutics. She has also held positions as chief financial officer and vice president of Ikonisys and chief financial officer and founding member of eSpendwise. She holds a Master's degree from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
