Pacific Biosciences Inks Asia Service, Distribution Deals

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Pacific Biosciences today said that it has signed up a service provider in Asia and a distributor for its PacBio RS system in Korea.

The Menlo Park, Calif.-based single-molecule sequencing technologies firm said that DNA Link will be the first commercial service provider for PacBio RS sequencing in Asia, as well as the first installation of the system in Korea. Seoul-based DNA Link is a contract research service provider for genomics studies.

The deal was brokered by PacBio's new distributor for Korea, Molecular Diagnostics Korea (MDxK).

Financial and other terms of the deals were not disclosed.

MDxK is PacBio's second distributor in Asia. In early November the firm said that Hong Kong-based Gene Company will distribute, market, and sell the RS instrument and related products in China and Hong Kong.
