New Products: Roche's SeqCap EZ Reagent Kits; Bioo Scientific's NextFlex 16S V4 Amplicon-Seq Kit

Premium

Roche has launched SeqCap EZ Reagent kits, which include the accessory, oligonucleotides, hybridization, and wash kits configured in a 24-reaction pack. Kits can also be ordered separately and include: SeqCap EZ Accessory for sequence capture experiments; SeqCap EZ HE-Oligo A, which includes oligos for 1 to 12 samples for Illumina sequencing; and SeqCap EZ HE-Oligo B, which includes oligos for 13 to 24 samples for use with Illumina sequencing systems. The kits are designed to be used with Roche's line of SeqCap EZ Library probe pools.

Bioo Scientific
has launched the NextFlex 16S V4 Amplicon-Seq Kit for bacterial metagenomic studies. The kit is compatible with Illumina's HiSeq and MiSeq systems. It is designed to target the V4 region of the 16S subunit and in a single PCR amplification ligates the necessary sequencing and barcoded regions for multiplexing. The kit is available with up to 48 barcodes and additional barcodes are available on a custom basis.

Machine Learning Helps ID Molecular Mechanisms of Pancreatic Islet Beta Cell Subtypes in Type 2 Diabetes

The approach helps overcome limitations of previous studies that had investigated the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic islet beta cells, the authors write in their Nature Genetics paper.

Culture-Based Methods, Shotgun Sequencing Reveal Transmission of Bifidobacterium Strains From Mothers to Infants

In a Nature Communications study, culture-based approaches along with shotgun sequencing give a better picture of the microbial strains transmitted from mothers to infants.

Microbial Communities Can Help Trees Adapt to Changing Climates

Tree seedlings that were inoculated with microbes from dry, warm, or cold sites could better survive drought, heat, and cold stress, according to a study in Science.

A Combination of Genetics and Environment Causes Cleft Lip

In a study published in Nature Communications, researchers investigate what combination of genetic and environmental factors come into play to cause cleft lip/palate.
