Eurofins MWG Operon has added sequencing on the Illumina HiSeq 2500 and MiSeq to its next-gen sequencing services business. The two platforms add to an array of sequencers, including the HiSeq 2000, Roche's 454 GS FLX and GS Junior, and the PacBio RS.
Illumina has launched five TruSight targeted sequencing kits for research use, including the TruSight Autism kit, TruSight Cancer, TruSight Cardiomyopathy, TruSight Inherited Disease, and TruSight Exome. The products are available for order now and will ship in the fourth quarter. The kits are designed to work with the MiSeq system and were designed in conjunction with collaborators from Children’s Mercy Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine, Kennedy Krieger Institute, the Institute of Cancer Research, London, and Partners HealthCare.
Life Technologies' Ion Torrent business has launched 300-base pair sequencing kits for the PGM and version 3.0 of its Torrent Suite software. The new version of the software delivers 99.99 percent consensus accuracy for both short and long homopolymer regions and increases the frequency of correctly called insertions, deletions, and homopolymer sequences by two-fold, according to the company. Additionally, it has launched an AmpliSeq Sample ID Panel, which identifies instances of sample misidentification.
