Life Technologies has launched several new products for library preparation and analysis. Its Library Builder System is a benchtop device for the automation of library construction and is compatible with the 5500 SOLiD Series and the Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine. Its DNA and RNA Library Preparation Kits have been optimized for the Ion Torrent PGM and, according to the company, can prepare libraries from DNA or RNA in two hours in a single tube.

LifeTech has also released its LifeScope Genomic Analysis Software, which the company said will cut sequence mapping times in half. The software is compatible with the 5500 Series SOLiD, and future releases will be compatible with the Ion Torrent PGM and other platforms.
