Transgenomic has released an updated version of its Familion Brugada Syndrome test panel, to now include two genes for J-wave syndromes, such as early repolarization syndrome. The test, named BrS/J-Wave, now includes nine genes. It is based on Sanger sequencing, and is the fourth genetic test launched by Transgenomic in the last six months. Others include a test for cardiac channelopathies, cardiomyopathies, and other cardiopathies.


Life Technologies' 3500 Dx Series Genetic Analyzer platform is now suitable to use for in vitro diagnostics in Japan. The platform is the first CE IVD- marked capillary electrophoresis system for nucleic acid analysis. It is intended for use in the analysis of human DNA or RNA for the detection of genetic changes that may lead to disease presence or susceptibility. According to the company it enables scientists to run up to 1,100 sequencing or 1,200 genotyping samples per day and features a novel consumables design that incorporates the ability to track key information with radio frequency identification tags, new optical and thermal sub-systems, and redesigned data collection and analysis software.
