Life Tech Partners with DaAn to Bring Sanger-Based Dx to Chinese Market

Premium

Life Technologies is partnering with DaAn Gene, a Chinese molecular in vitro diagnostics company, to form Life Technologies DaAn Diagnostics.

Based in Guangzhou, the company will develop and commercialize a suite of assays using Life Tech's 3500Dx capillary electrophoresis instrument and the Big Dye Cycle Sequencing technologies. Life Tech's 3500Dx was approved by the China State Food and Drug Administration for IVD use last October.

The new company will aim develop IVD assays for oncology, infectious diseases, and genetic diseases.

Life Tech's CEO Greg Lucier said in a statement that the venture "represents a big leap forward for our business in China."

The venture is also an extension of a partnership that formed 20 years ago between Life Tech predecessor Applied Biosystems and DaAn, which brought PCR-based diagnostics to China.
