Genomed to Offer BGI's NIPT in Poland

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – BGI Europe and molecular diagnostics firm Genomed this week announced a partnership to offer BGI's non-invasive prenatal test in Poland.

The deal makes Genomed Poland's leading service provider of the test called NIFTY, the firms said. NIFTY detects the risk of certain genetic conditions, including Down syndrome, from as early as 10 weeks into the pregnancy.

The agreement, they said, advances the development of personalized medicine in Poland by introducing next-generation sequencing technology to common prenatal practice. Financial and other terms were not disclosed.

Warsaw, Poland-based Genomed was founded in 2008. According to its website, the firm has the widest genetic testing offering in the country.
