EdgeBio and Caliper Co-Developing Automated Sample Prep Protocols for SOLiD, PGM

Premium

EdgeBio and Caliper Life Sciences will co-develop automated protocols for the 5500xl SOLiD, SOLiD 4, and Ion Torrent PGM systems on Caliper’s Sciclone NGS Workstation, the companies said this week.

Initially, the firms will focus on sample preparation for exome sequencing, whole-genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing applications.

EdgeBio is one of the first companies offering services on the Ion Torrent PGM. Caliper President and CEO Kevin Hrusovsky said in a statement that the collaboration “will allow us to expand our automation and microfluidic technologies to SOLiD and Ion Torrent users.”

Besides the Sciclone NGS Workstation for library construction and sequence capture protocols, Caliper also offers the LabChip GX for library quantification and quality control as well as the LabChip XT for DNA fragment isolation.
