Pathway Genomics to Offer Genetic Testing Through Blue Shield of California's PPO Network

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Pathway Genomics said today it has joined Blue Shield of California's preferred provider network.

The health insurer has more than 3.3 million members, and its HMO has a network of more than 34,000 doctors and 290 hospitals, while its PPO network has more than 60,000 doctors and 351 hospitals.

Last month, San Diego-based Pathway announced a deal to offer its testing services through Medcan Clinic, Canada's largest private healthcare clinic. The Scripps Center for Executive Health also began offering Pathway's testing services this past fall.

Pathway conducts the analysis and interpretation of test results at its CLIA genetic testing lab.

The firm offers several DNA tests covering diet and exercise, drug response, carrier status, and complex health conditions.
