NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Pathway Genomics announced today an agreement to offer its personalized genetic testing services through the Medcan Clinic, Canada's largest private healthcare clinic.
Medcan will provide in-person counseling by a certified genetic counselor in conjunction with Pathway's test called The Personal Genome Test. The test uses a saliva sample and reports on a patient's response to certain drugs and propensity to develop disease such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Medcan is a leader in providing personalized and preventive health care to the Canadian people," Pathway CEO Jim Plante said in a statement. "Pathway's extensive offering of genetic testing services enhances Medcan's genetics program, and allows the clinic to offer highly personalized and clinically actionable genetic information to its patients."
San Diego-based Pathway announced in October an agreement to offer its test through the Scripps Center for Executive Health.
