Velocity11 has launched its new BenchCel R automated workstation, the company announced this week.

The BenchCel R platform has the flexibility to work with lidded microplates, deep-well plates, and tip boxes; and a choice of 2-, 4- or 6-rack configurations with capacities of 15 to 70 standard microplates and a choice of racks, including slot, front-loading, and door style design.

The BenchCel R is an integrated benchtop robot and microplate storage solution that features a high-speed plate shuttle that accesses integrated microplate stacks and peripheral microplate-based instruments including liquid handlers, dispensers, readers, sealers, washers, centrifuges, and microplate storage devices. The BenchCel R also offers quick-swap robot modules and robot diagnostic software.

Dickson announced this week that its Alarm Thermometer is now available.

The thermometer features tamper-resistant audible and visual alarms, and costs $59 for a two-probe model that can monitor both refrigerators and freezers simultaneously, and $49 for a single-probe model.

The company said that the thermometer has several features that make it cost-effective and easy to use: a visual alarm display that remains lit even if temperatures are no longer out of range; alarm controls on back of the unit, making it tamper-resistant once mounted on the outside of the refrigeration unit; propylene glycol bottles for stable temperature readings; a large LCD display of current temperatures, min/max temperatures, alarm conditions, and battery levels; and an automatic scrolling display of refrigerator and freezer conditions every five seconds.

Both the two-probe and single-probe models are continuous, calibrated and certified thermometers that are able to monitor temperatures in the -58°F to +158°F (-50°C to +70°C).

BioTek Instruments last week introduced its new BioStack microplate stacker with rotational wrist.

The BioStack's integrated rotational wrist accommodates instrument carriers with both landscape and portrait orientations enabling the instrument's keypad and display to remain positioned for unimpaired access, the company said.

New 50-microplate storage stacks or the originally designed 30-microplate stacks may be selected to accommodate individual throughput needs. The scalable BioStack also offers self-diagnostics and an optional barcode scanner.

CyBio two weeks ago announced the launch of customized racked CyBi-TipTrays.

The TipTrays enable the user of CyBi-Well pipetting systems to exclude any number of tips individually from the pipetting process. The tips can be excluded in any configuration.

PCR and Sterile CyBi-TipsTrays are now available for all purity specifications for the use with bacteria and cell cultures as well as nucleic acids, the company said.
