John Murphy has been promoted to executive vice president and COO of PerkinElmer, a new position, the company said last week. Most recently, he was president of PerkinElmer’s optoelectronics business. In this position, he was replaced by John Roush, who used to be vice president of product management and global sales and customer operations for optoelectronics.

Also, Robert Friel has been promoted to executive vice president for business development and CFO. He has been PE’s CFO since 1999.

Australian biotech firm Bionomics recently announced the appointment of Peter Jonson as chairman of the board. Jonson will succeed Fraser Ainsworth, who announced in July that he intended to retire as a director of the company in November.

Bionomics also said that it has extended the contract term of chief executive officer and managing director Deborah Rathjen until June 2008.
