David Weber and Bryan Koontz

Stratagene said last week that David Weber is the company’s new senior vice president of marketing, and will lead Stratagene’s global marketing programs for its life sciences division.

Weber most recently served as president of the Americas region for GE Healthcare. Prior to this, he was vice president of marketing and sales support for Amersham Pharmacia Biotech, which was acquired by GE Healthcare early last year. He has also served as vice president of direct marketing and customer care for Pharmacia Biotech, and vice president of marketing and supplier relations at Chemdex Corporation. Weber holds a BS in biochemistry from Rutgers University.

Tripos has promoted Bryan Koontz to senior vice president and general manager of discovery informatics, the company said last week.

Koontz’s most recent position at Tripos was vice president of marketing and corporate development. Koontz joined Tripos when it bought Optive Research, an informatics start-up co-founded by Koontz as a technology spin-off from the University of Texas at Austin. Koontz holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University, and an MS in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
