Adel Mahmoud

Becton Dickinson said this week that it has elected Adel Mahmoud to its board of directors.
Mahmoud has been named the chief executive of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise, effective Sept. 1. He is currently chief medical advisor, vaccines and infectious diseases for Merck. From 1999 to 2005, Mahmoud served as president of Merck Vaccines and as a member of the management committee. He holds an MD from the University of Cairo and a DPH from the University of Ain Shams, and a PhD from the University of London’s School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
