NEW YORK – Pacific Biosciences said Friday that it has signed a research collaboration agreement with the National Cancer Center of Singapore (NCCS) to study the genomics of prevalent cancers in Asia.
Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed.
The research project, which will focus on single-cell RNA sequencing of various cancer types including gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), will use both PacBio's Onso short-read sequencing system and its Revio long-read platform with the Kinnex full-length RNA long-read sequencing kit. As part of the collaboration, NCCS has installed an Onso sequencer at its Cancer Discovery Hub.
The initiative "combines the power of short-read and long-read sequencing, allowing us to delve deeper into the genomic complexities of cancers prevalent in Asia," NCCS Cancer Discovery Hub Director Jason Chan said in a statement. "The ultimate aim is to improve tailored diagnostic and treatment options for our patients."
PacBio began shipping both the Onso and Kinnex product lines last year.
