Inspirata Partners With Carebox Healthcare on Automated Cancer Clinical Trial Matching

NEW YORK — Inspirata said on Tuesday that it has partnered with Carebox Healthcare Solutions to offer a product that provides hospitals and oncologists with information on matching their cancer patients with clinical trials.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Carebox has developed a system that matches eligibility criteria from clinical trial databases with patients' health and genomic data to identify potentially relevant studies for those patients.

Under the terms of the deal, Inspirata will use its informatics technologies to extract data from pathology reports and electronic health records to create patient-specific clinical and genomic data profiles, which will be combined with Carebox's system in order to identify patients eligible for clinical studies in real time.

Additional terms were not disclosed.

"We have the ability to process diagnostic reports in real time, extracting important clinical data about cancer patients at the point of diagnosis, which can then be used to create cohorts of patients available for clinical trial matching," George Cernile, senior VP of cancer informatics at Inspirata, said in a statement. "By combining Carebox's proven condition-based matching engine with our own technology, we can use that data to identify potentially eligible patients for clinical trials almost immediately after diagnosis, even before any treatment has started."

Tampa, Florida-based Inspirata said that the first integrations of the new offering with electronic medical records have recently become available.
