NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a collaboration with Ireland's National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) to characterize complex biopharmaceuticals.
As part of the collaboration, NIBRT will develop workflows using Thermo Fisher's biomolecule column range, liquid chromatography, and Orbitrap mass spectrometry systems.
"Analytical characterization of biopharmaceuticals remains a challenge for scientists and requires cutting-edge chromatography solutions and mass spectrometry detection," Jakob Gudbrand, Thermo Fisher's president of chromatography and analytical technologies, said in a statement.
Under the terms of the collaboration, Thermo Fisher will add NIBRT's workflows and methods to the firm's AppsLab library, where scientists around the world can access them.
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
