Spain's Sequentia Biotech Raises €10M in Series A Funding Round

NEW YORK – Spanish bioinformatics startup Sequentia Biotech said Monday that it has raised €10 million ($11.2 million) in Series A financing.

French investment firm Seventure Partners led the round, joined by the European Commission's EIC Fund.

In a statement, Sequentia, based in Barcelona, said the funding will help accelerate the path to market for its MICK platform for clinical microbiome data analysis and interpretation.

"This investment will play a major role in advancing our mission to unlock the full potential of omics and accelerate the adoption of MICK by researchers and healthcare professionals globally," Sequentia CEO and Cofounder Walter Sanseverino said in a statement.

According to Sequentia's website, the firm offers "bioinformatics cloud software, custom software, and bioinformatics consulting services for healthcare, pharma, agriculture, industry, and environment," as well as sequencing services.
