NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Sciex today announced a research collaboration with German clinical laboratory Labor Berlin to develop a hybrid quadrupole time-of-flight MS/MS reference library of forensic chemical compounds.
Sciex, a Danaher company, said that the library will include thousands of chemical substances, and as a result users of Sciex Triple TOF 6600 mass spectrometers for forensic testing will be able to more effectively and efficiently develop and validate new analytical methods for forensic compound screening. Sciex added that the reference library will enable forensic researchers to identify and analyze unknown substances or toxins, such as pharmacological agents or forensic drugs in samples, more easily and accurately.
Labor Berlin will provide pharmacological input as part of the collaboration, while Sciex will assemble the hybrid quadrupole TOF library.
Sciex noted that the library database will include spectra collected in authenticated samples, providing relevant metabolite spectral information, a challenge to discover by other methods.
