NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Premaitha Health today announced it has signed a collaboration agreement with Centrum Badan DNA to offer its Iona test for non-invasive prenatal testing in Poland.
Centrum Badan will become Premaitha's preferred testing partner in the country. Financial and other details of the agreement were not disclosed.
The next-generation sequencing-based test analyzes cell-free fetal DNA in the mother's blood to detect genetic disorders such as trisomies 13, 18, and 21.
Iona will be available for private testing and Centrum Badan will work with national hospitals to offer the test to high-risk pregnant women, the firm said in a statement.
"Having exclusive access to the only regulated CE-IVD NIPT in Europe for the pregnant women of Poland is a significant commercial advantage to our company. We anticipate launching the Iona test in Poland over the next few weeks," Centrum Badan CEO Jacek Wojciechowicz said in a statement.
Since the Iona test received the CE mark in February, Premaitha has signed agreements to make the test available in Switzerland and the UK.
