Seer: Amber Faust
Proteomics research tools company Seer has appointed Amber Faust as VP of global sales. Faust joins the company from Standard BioTools, where she served as senior director of life sciences for the Americas. She has also previously held sales and business development positions at SomaLogic, Olink Proteomics, and Metabolon.
Quantum-Si: Gloria Sheynkman, Benjamin Garcia, Bradley Pentelute, Denis Zaccarin
Quantum-Si has established a scientific advisory board and named Gloria Sheynkman, Benjamin Garcia, Bradley Pentelute, and Denis Zaccarin as members.
Sheynkman, who will chair the board, is an assistant professor at the University of Virginia whose research uses mass spectrometry, long-read RNA sequencing, and single-molecule protein sequencing to characterize protein proteoforms.
Garcia is a professor and head of the department of biochemistry and molecular biophysics at Washington University School of Medicine who studies protein modifications and their role in epigenetic regulation and disease.
Pentelute is a professor of chemistry and an associate member of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT whose research explores peptide and protein synthesis, bioengineering, and molecular delivery systems.
Zaccarin is the former senior VP of research and development at Pacific Biosciences and an expert in semiconductor technology and consumables development for sequencing platforms.
Nautilus Biotechnology: Vijay Pande, Michael Altman
Nautilus Biotechnology said that Vijay Pande and Michael Altman have informed the company that they will not stand for reelection to its board of directors. Their decision is not due to any disagreement with the company related to its operations, policies, or practices, Nautilus said.
Bio-Techne: Amy Herr
Bio-Techne has appointed Amy Herr to serve as an independent director on the firm's board and on the board's science and technology committee. Herr is a professor of bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley and VP of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network, a group of nonprofit research institutes. She was previously a cofounder and advisory board member of Zephyrus Biosciences, which Bio-Techne acquired in 2016, and served as the founding executive director of UC Berkeley's Bakar BioEnginuity Hub, an incubator for academic spinout companies.
FYR Diagnostics: Chris Howlett
FYR Diagnostics, a Missoula, Montana-based company focused on using extracellular vesicles to inform disease diagnosis and treatment, has appointed Chris Howlett to its independent board of directors. Howlett most recently served as chairman and CEO of Genelex, leading the company through its sale to Invitae. He also previously worked as senior VP of business development at Unilab, which was eventually acquired by Quest Diagnostics. Howlett also has served as general manager of one of Laboratory Corporation of America's 33 divisional laboratories and spent eight years as regional director of a $900 million business unit. Howlett serves on the boards of DecisionRx and Genomind and is a founding partner and board member of Market Street Healthcare Partners.
