Helix: Hylton Kalvaria

Hylton Kalvaria has been appointed as senior VP of life sciences at population genomics firm Helix. He joins the San Mateo, California-based company from Mendel AI, a clinical natural language processing startup, where he was president and chief commercial officer. In the past, he also held leadership roles at Verana Health, Flatiron Health, and Genentech.


Olink: Bruno Rossi

Olink said this week that Chief Commercial Officer Bruno Rossi will resign effective March 29, 2024, in order to pursue other opportunities. Olink President Carl Raimond will serve as interim CCO after Rossi steps down.


VedaBio: Frédéric Sweeney, Maurice Exner

Frédéric Sweeney has been appointed as president and CEO of VedaBio. Previously, he was executive chairman, president, and chief operating officer of the San Diego-based CRISPR firm. Prior to joining VedaBio, he held executive roles at MeMed Diagnostics, BioMérieux, Versant Ventures, Northern Biologics, and T2 Biosystems.

Maurice Exner is taking over for Sweeney as VedaBio's COO. He comes to the firm from Sherlock Biosciences, where he was CSO. Prior to that, he was VP of R&D, assay development, and clinical affairs at Hologic. He also worked in product development/M&A integration at Abbott Point of Care and was R&D manager at Quest Diagnostics. Exner holds a B.Sc. in microbiology from the University of Regina and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of British Columbia.
