Becton Dickinson: Michael Feld

Becton Dickinson has named Michael Feld as executive VP and president of the life sciences business, effective Aug. 20. Feld replaces Dave Hickey, who retired from BD in July. Feld most recently served as president of Danaher subsidiary Veralto's Hach water quality product business. Prior to that, he was senior VP and general manager of Cepheid Europe as well as president of other Danaher businesses, including Mammotome, XOS, and Dover Motion.


Biocartis: Michael Korn

Biocartis appointed Michael Korn as its chief medical and scientific officer, effective Aug. 12. Korn previously served as chief medical officer at Invitae and as CMO at Caris Life Sciences. He is currently a volunteer faculty member at the University of California San Francisco and cofounded the Center for Molecular Oncology Initiative at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.


Seer: Nicolas Roelofs

Nicolas Roelofs has been appointed to the board of directors of proteomics firm Seer. He is the chairman of Sengenics, a board member of Velsera, and an advisory board member of 908 Devices. Previously, he was president of the life sciences group at Agilent Technologies, group operations officer for the life sciences division at Bio-Rad Laboratories, and chief operating officer at Stratagene. Roelofs holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Nevada, a master's degree in organic chemistry from Iowa State University, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, and German from Simpson College.


Ultima Genomics: Chris Seipert, Lara Toerien

Ultima Genomics has appointed Chris Seipert as VP of operations and Lara Toerien as VP of sales for North America.

Seipert joins the firm after spending 14 years at Pacific Biosciences, most recently as VP of global operations. Before that, he was PacBio's VP of customer experience, VP and general manager of the Americas and EMEA, VP of global service and support, and VP of instrument manufacturing and field service engineering. Prior to joining PacBio, he held engineering roles at KLA-Tencor. Seipert has an M.S. in engineering and a B.S. in physics from San Jose State University.

Toerien also comes to Ultima from PacBio, where she was VP and general manager for the Americas. Previously, she spent 16 years at Illumina, holding roles in the sales organization in North America. Before that, she spent seven years working in sales at Invitrogen. Toerien holds a B.S. in molecular and cell biology from Penn State University and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of California, San Diego.


OpGen: Christian-Laurent Bonte, Victor Chua, Ken Lim, Ethan Low, Constance Wong

OpGen has appointed Christian-Laurent Bonte, Victor Chua, Ken Lim, Ethan Low, and Constance Wong as directors of the company. The initial term for each of the directors will expire at the company's 2024 annual meeting of stockholders. 

Bonte is the founder of Far Cap, a Singapore-based corporate financing and investing business, while Chua is founder of venture capital firm Vynn Capital, and Lim is CEO and executive director of the European Credit Investment Bank. 

Low and Wong are executives at growth equity investment firm AEI Capital Group, where Low serves as deputy president of corporate development and portfolio management and Wong is senior VP of group operations and business development. 

The OpGen board of directors deemed Bonte, Chua, and Lim as independent under applicable US Securities and Exchange Commission and Nasdaq standards and appointed them to the audit committee and compensation committee. Lim will serve as chair of the former and Chua will serve as chair of the latter.


Solvd Health: Mark Hazeltine, Ron McCullough

Solvd Health, a Carlsbad, California-based pharmacogenomic testing and health information company, has appointed Mark Hazeltine as CFO and Ron McCullough as senior VP of clinical operations.

Hazeltine previously served as chief business officer at Exagen, where he also previously held roles including senior VP of finance and corporate development, general manager, and chief operating officer. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of San Diego and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

McCullough previously served as CSO and cofounder of Intrigue Health. He also chaired the strategic advisory board at Claire Health and was senior VP of operations at Pathnostics. He holds a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry from Boston University, an MBA from the University of San Diego, and a B.S. in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Arizona.


Mindera Health: Kamal Adawi

Skin analytic company Mindera Health has appointed Kamal Adawi as its CFO. Adawi was previously CFO at Exagen and Pathway Genomics and has served as a director of financial planning and analysis at Exagen and GenMark Diagnostics.
