10x Genomics: Adam Taich, Justin McAnear, Mennah Moustafa
10x Genomics has appointed Adam Taich as CFO, effective Aug. 12. Outgoing CFO Justin McAnear will resign Aug. 30 to join a privately held company. Taich comes to 10x from Standard BioTools, where he was chief strategy officer following its merger with SomaLogic, where he was CEO. He was also chief business officer and executive VP of life sciences at SomaLogic. Prior to that, he had a long career at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Mennah Moustafa has joined 10x as chief commercial officer after having held the position on an interim basis since January. She joined 10x in April 2022 as senior VP of commercial operations. Prior to that, she was Abcam's head of commercial for the Americas and head of business development. She also spent a decade at Sigma-Aldrich.
4basebio: Amy Walker, Bertrand Coissac, Lawrence Pitcher, Deborah Barbara
Amy Walker has been promoted to chief operating officer of 4basebio and has joined the company's board of directors. Since 2020, she has been the UK synthetic biology firm's VP of research and business development. Walker holds a Ph.D. from the University College London Institute of Child Health. In addition, 4basebio has appointed three experts to its strategic advisory board: Bertrand Coissac, CEO of Twogene; Lawrence Pitcher, VP at Catalent Pharma Solutions; and Deborah Barbara, former VP of Maravai Life Sciences.
Helio Genomics: Eric Ariazi
Eric Ariazi has been appointed as chief development officer of Helio Genomics. He joins the Irvine, California-based cancer testing company after founding his own consulting firm, Biomarker Strategy Consulting. Before that, he was senior principal scientist in the department of translational medicine at ORIC Pharmaceuticals, where he led development of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers for clinical-stage compounds. Previously, he held various positions at Freenome, where he was an early employee and spearheaded development of targeted cfDNA methylation sequencing assays. Prior to that, he was an assistant research professor at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Ariazi holds a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology as well as human cancer biology from the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
Quantum-Si: Chuck Kummeth
Chuck Kummeth has been appointed as independent chairman of Quantum-Si's board of directors. He was previously president and CEO of Bio-Techne. Before that, he was president of mass spectrometry and chromatography and president of the laboratory consumables division at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He also served in various roles at 3M, including as VP of the company's medical division.
Vesica Health: Scientific Advisory Board
Vesica Health, a multiomics liquid biopsy assay developer, has named the following individuals to its scientific advisory board:
- Peter Black, professor of urologic sciences at the University of British Columbia; chair and associate director of clinical research at the Vancouver Prostate Centre
- Sam Chang, professor of urology, professor of urologic surgery, and chief surgical officer at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center; chief of urologic oncology at Vanderbilt University
- Siamak Daneshmand, professor of urology and director of clinical research at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California; fellowship director for the Society of Urologic Oncology
- Cheryl Lee, professor and chairman of urology, chair in cancer research, and VP of the OSU Physicians and Faculty Group Practice at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
- Yair Lotan, professor of urology, chief of urologic oncology, and chair in urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center
- Sima Porten, associate professor of urology at the University of California, San Francisco; member of the urologic oncology team at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center
