Oxford Genetics, Twist Bioscience Sign Genetic Vector Technology Licensing Deal

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Oxford Genetics said today that it has signed a licensing agreement to supply Twist Bioscience with access to its SnapFast technology platform.

Access to SnapFast will provide Twist with a range of application-specific genetic expression vectors that it can use to clone synthesized DNA for its customers, Oxford said. Oxford specializes in the design of application-specific vectors. The vectors also grant access to the wider SnapFast ecosystem, which will allow Twist to switch between all of Oxford's vectors, making future changes and additions simple and efficient, the firm added

"This license agreement with Twist Bioscience serves as further recognition of our approach to developing the best optimized expression vectors," Oxford CEO Ryan Cawood said in a statement. "By utilizing our SnapFast platform, Twist Bioscience is giving its customers access to the latest vector designs for the most demanding applications and providing them with better value, a streamlined workflow and maximum flexibility in order to utilize their custom DNA constructs to their best effect."

Twist CEO Emily Leproust added that the deal gives her company the opportunity to "reach the large group of customers who order smaller quantities of genes in standard vectors."
