NEW YORK – Access Genetics, doing business as OralDNA Labs, a developer of salivary diagnostic tests, said Tuesday that it has acquired all assets of San Dimas, California-based Sensible Diagnostics, a developer of point-of-care rapid PCR technology.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Access, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, said it plans to commercialize "a new standard in point-of-care diagnostics, offering speed and affordability" with results from saliva or swabs available in 10 minutes or less.
"We are proud to add Sensible Diagnostics' state-of-the-art platform to our capabilities, enhancing our ability to provide real-time, actionable results to clinicians and their patients," said OralDNA Labs CEO George Hoedeman.
The Sensible four-channel microfluidic point-of-care system performs real-time qPCR in approximately 10 minutes and was developed in-house by the Curative spinoff.
OralDNA Labs said it plans to use the system to improve the speed and accuracy of "chairside diagnostics." Initial development has focused on the oral microbiome to support dentists in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and related oral systemic illnesses.
