Illumina TSO 500 DNA/RNA on Beckman Coulter Life Sciences Biomek NGenius
Illumina and Beckman Coulter Life Sciences have launched an automated version of the Illumina TruSight Oncology 500 DNA/RNA assay on the Biomek NGenius System. The application supports both DNA and RNA inputs, enabling the detection of cancer biomarkers including single nucleotide variants, insertions, deletions, gene amplifications, fusions, and splice events. Library preparation can be achieved in less than three days. Four to 24 libraries can be processed in a single batch, accommodating both high-quality and low-quality formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples. The assay is also optimized for reduced plastic use and lower consumable costs.
Twist Bioscience 5 kb Long Gene Fragments
Twist Bioscience is now offering gene fragments with increased length, from 1.8 kb to 5 kb. This could allow researchers to select fewer colonies for screening or to use the gene fragments directly in in vitro transcription to make RNA. Turnaround time for all gene fragments starts at two business days, regardless of length, according to the firm.
Stemcell EasySep Total Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit
Stemcell has released the EasySep Total Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit. The kit uses magnetic bead technology to extract DNA and RNA from whole blood, cell suspensions, and EasySep-isolated cells. It works with as few as 10 input cells, is scalable to a 96-well plate format, and has a 30-minute protocol. Nucleic acids extracted with the kit are highly pure and can be used for applications such as qPCR, according to the company.
Illumina TruSight Oncology Assays for NovaSeq X
Illumina has launched an expanded menu of oncology assays for the NovaSeq X instrument. The high-throughput TruSight Oncology (TSO) 500 offers economic improvements, compared to the version of the assay for the NovaSeq 6000. TSO 500 ctDNA v2 enables a faster, more sensitive, and streamlined comprehensive genomic profiling workflow from blood samples for solid tumor therapy selection research. It offers improved economics, about 40 percent faster sequencing run times resulting in a three-day assay turnaround time, and more sustainable logistics, with ambient temperature shipping for consumables.
IDT Rapid Genes
IDT has launched Rapid Genes, high-quality, next-generation sequencing-verified, clonal genes. Available from 125 bp to 2,000 bp, at $.15 per bp, rapid genes are circular double-stranded DNA in a plasmid and available to ship dry or in a resuspension buffer in 96-well or 384-well plates. In addition to rapid genes, IDT is also rolling out enhancements to its existing gene synthesis offerings including additional standard bacterial and mammalian expression vectors, expanded yield up to 100 µg with an endotoxin-free option, and sequence-verified error-free clones.
Twist Bioscience, BitBiome Transaminase Enzyme Screening Kit
Twist Bioscience and BitBiome have launched a joint Transaminase Enzyme Screening Kit. The curated collection of 48 diverse transaminase enzymes can be used for in-house screening and evaluation. These enzymes catalyze the transfer of an amine group from an amine donor and are an option for the synthesis of chiral amines, which are building blocks for the pharmaceutical industry.
