NantOmics Acquires Consumer Genomics Firm Genos

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – NantOmics said today that it has acquired San Francisco-based consumer genomics firm Genos for an undisclosed amount, and will incorporate its technology and expertise into its current pan-omic analysis tools.

Genos spun out of Complete Genomics last year, offering a whole-exome sequencing service for consumers interested in exploring their own genomes and sharing their genomic data with researchers. The company raised $6 million in investment from NantOmics in November.

NantOmics already integrates whole-genomic sequencing, transcriptomics, predictive proteomics, and quantitative proteomics into its efforts, but said it believes the new addition of Genos' technology and data visualization expertise will help it enhance its comprehensive diagnostic platform.

"We are excited to integrate the Genos technology and to welcome Genos employees to the NantOmics team," founder and CEO Patrick Soon-Shiong said in a statement.
