NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Caris Life Sciences today announced the addition of MedStar Health to the Caris Centers of Excellence for Precision Medicine Network.
Under the terms of the agreement, MedStar Health, which has 10 hospitals in Maryland and Washington, DC, will participate in developing standards of care and best practices for integrating molecular profiling into oncology. MedStar will also use Caris' tumor profiling service, Caris Molecular Intelligence.
Caris Molecular Intelligence enables precision medicine by identifying treatment options and clinical trial opportunities based on the unique characteristics of a patient's tumor, the firm said in a statement.
"We are beginning to see a groundswell of support for the Caris Centers of Excellence for Precision Medicine Network and the development of standardized tumor profiling guidelines to improve treatment outcomes and reduce the financial burden of cancer care," David Halbert, CEO of Caris Life Sciences, said in a statement.
In February, West Cancer Center in Memphis, Tennessee joined the network, which Caris launched in January.
