Illumina Settles Enzo IP Lawsuit for $21M

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) –Illumina has settled a patent-infringement lawsuit with Enzo Biochem subsidiary Enzo Life Sciences for $21 million, Enzo said today.

The settlement resolves the sixth of 11 lawsuits brought by Enzo against Illumina, Agilent, Affymetrix, Luminex, and other firms for alleged infringement of US Patent No 7,064,197 for a "System, Array, and Non-Porous Solid Support Comprising Fixed or Immobilized Nucleic Acids."

The US Patent and Trademark Office awarded Enzo the '197 patent in 2006.

As reported by GenomeWeb, Enzo has already settled lawsuits over the '197 patent with Life Technologies, Agilent, Affymetrix, Siemens, and Luminex.
