NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – DiaSorin and the Tecan Group today announced a collaboration to develop a nucleic acid extraction platform.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The new platform will leverage Tecan's Fluent Laboratory Automation Solution along with DiaSoriin's Liaison MDX PCR system to provide users a complete sample-to-result system, the firms said, adding the Fluent instrument will be optimized for use with DiaSorin's extraction chemistry and automated PCR technology.
Tecan's Fluent solution combines high-precision liquid handling, as little as 200nL, with "straightforward" setup of normalization, sample transfer, and reagent distribution, according to the company's website, adding the configurable architecture allows for the rapid integration of devices for DNA quantification and processing.
The Liaison MDX leverages real-time PCR technology and is available in an eight-well or 96-well format. Tecan and DiaSorin said the new platform to be developed will be optimized for the 96-well disc.
