CloudHealth, Mongolian Health Initiative Form Precision Medicine Alliance

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Shanghai-based CloudHealth Genomics and the Mongolian Health Initiative (MHI) announced today that they will collaborate to advance precision medicine research for nutritional deficiencies and nutrition-related diseases.

The MHI is a non-governmental research organization focused on health issues — such as tuberculosis and vitamin D deficiency — that are prevalent among people in the Mongolian region largely due to diets high in animal products and low in fruits and vegetables.

Under the terms of the alliance, CloudHealth and the MHI will jointly promote future public-private partnerships and collaborations to identify biomarkers for nutrition-related diseases, with the goal of advancing the development of new diagnostics and therapeutics. The partners added that data and results from the collaboration will be made public.

Additional terms were not disclosed.

"Dietary imbalances have been and remain the most prominent risk factor for disease and premature mortality in Mongolia and [the] Central Eurasian Region," MHI Founder Ganmaa Davaasambuu said in a statement. "Collaboration with CloudHealth and its network will only accelerate improved outcomes for the people in our region, which eventually [will] lead to favorable public health policies as a result of our ongoing efforts."
