NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Cancer Genetics today said it launched its ExpandDx collaborative testing program using Roche's Ventana digital pathology technology.
According to Cancer Genetics, the program allows community-based hospitals and pathology labs to partner with the company through remote consultations, while enabling access to a broader range of tests. ExpandDx is a technical-only testing service performed at CGI's laboratories. The professional component of the testing procedure, including interpretation of the test results, is performed by the ordering physician.
"As care centers and clinicians look for ways to improve cost efficiency, technical-only testing offers opportunity for providers to more actively collaborate in the diagnosis process and manage costs for patients," Cancer Genetics Medical Director Lan Wang said in a statement. He added that ExpandDx "will ensure that community-based hospitals and pathology labs have access to the same cutting-edge oncology testing available at larger centers, and will allow the clinical community to collaborate on difficult cases."
