NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – BioNano Genomics today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Gene Company for mainland China and its outlying territories.
Under the terms of the agreement, Gene Company will distribute the Irys system for genome mapping in China, except for Shanghai, with exclusive rights in Hong Kong and Macau.
"China has seen impressive growth in the area of genomic research within the last several years, and BioNano is seeing a positive impact on its business in the region," BioNano CEO Erik Holmlin said in a statement. He added that Landri Lim has been hired by the firm to head its commercial efforts inAsia.
The Irys system images, maps, and analyzes DNA, revealing structural variation and aiding genome assembly.
A year ago, BioNano signed deals with two companies in the Asia-Pacific region for distribution rights inAustralia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
