NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Beckman Coulter Genomics announced today that it has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists.
The accreditation recognizes that the company's lab facility has met CAP's requirements in areas like quality control procedures, equipment, safety, and overall management.
Stephen Lyle, laboratory director at Beckman Coulter Genomics, said in a statement that the accreditation signifies that the lab "operates under rigorous quality standards to generate highly accurate and reliable data." The recognition "will help the facility more quickly move findings from clinical trials into clinical use," he added.
Beckman Coulter has been operating its clinical sequencing lab since it received CLIA certification in 2012, with an intention to develop assays in the areas of oncology and infectious disease using Sanger and next-generation sequencing technologies.
