BCBS Illinois to Cover Med Fusion Diagnostic Laboratory Services

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Med Fusion today said it has reached a deal with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to cover Med Fusion's advanced diagnostic laboratory services.

Under the terms of the deal, BCBS Illinois will cover the services to members of its BlueChoice and preferred provider organization plans. The deal sets predetermined levels of coverage and reimbursement for covered services as a network provider.

Med Fusion is a clinical service laboratory and clinical trials service organization based in Lewisville, Texas. Among the clinical laboratory services it offers are tests based on mass spectrometry and PCR. In October it announced a collaboration with GenomOncology to provide genomic profiles of patient tumors for treatment guidance and clinical trial enrollment.
