In Brief This Week: Novogene, Hologic, Agilent, Diagenode

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Novogene said this week that the Tianjin Novogene Med Lab, a next-generation sequencing clinical lab for genomic testing, has received renewed CAP accreditation. Tianjin Novogene Med Lab was founded in June 2014, and was approved by the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission in December 2014 for the application of clinical gene amplification technology. The lab first received CAP accreditation in February 2017.

Hologic said this week that it has opened its first Learning and Experience Centre in Zaventem, Belgium. The firm said that the 1,500-square-meter facility provides training for customers, healthcare professionals, and employees across its Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. It contains fully equipped training labs with demonstration capabilities for technologies from Hologic's four divisions — diagnostics, breast and skeletal health, gynecological surgical, and medical aesthetics. Products featured at the Hologic Learning and Experience Centre include the Panther Fusion fully automated, integrated molecular testing platform.

The creation of Hologic's European hub and the consolidation of key European functions, including customer service, will create up to 60 new jobs in Belgium over the next 12 months, the firm said.

Agilent Technologies said this week that its board has approved a quarterly dividend of $.16 per share of common stock, to be paid on April 24 to all shareholders of record as of the close of business on April 2.

Diagenode announced this week that it has expanded its existing partnership with Canadian life sciences product distributors Cedarlane to promote and distribute a larger range of Diagenode products. Prior to this agreement, Diagenode and Cedarlane had an informal distribution relationship in which Cedarlane only had access to a limited number of products, Diagenode said. The new formal agreement will give a wider range of Canadian customers more access to Diagenode's epigenetics reagents and assays, shearing devices, and NGS and epigenetics automation solutions, the firm added.
