In Brief This Week: Bruker; PerkinElmer; Maverix Biomics; Becton Dickinson; Kapa Biosystems; Genetic Technologies

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Bruker has opened a new Preclinical Imaging Center of Excellence for the Americas at its headquarters in Billerica, Mass. The facility offers advanced development, demonstration, and support facilities for Bruker's portfolio of preclinical imaging instrumentation and multimodal platforms.


PerkinElmer's board of directors has declared a regular quarterly dividend of $.07 per share of common stock. The dividend is payable on May 9 to shareholders of record at the close of the business day on April 18.


Maverix Biomics said that it has received a $100,000 order from the University of Missouri for the analysis of feline genomes as part of the 99 Lives Cat Whole Genome Sequencing Initiative. The effort is a collaboration between U of M and the University of California, Davis, as well as industrial partners. Maverix said that it will hose the genome and analysis data from the initiative and offer it for free to researchers through its cloud-based Maverix Analytic Platform.


The board of Becton Dickinson has declared a quarterly dividend of $.545 per common share payable on March 31 to shareholders of record on March 10. The indicated annual dividend rate is $2.18 per share.


Reagents firm Kapa Biosystems has relocated its corporate headquarters to Wilmington, Mass., and its international headquarters to Cape Town, South Africa. Combined, the two new facilities have more than 25,000 square feet, more than doubling the firm's previous combined space.


Genetic Technologies said this week that cash receipts from customers for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2013 were A$1.3 million (US$1.1 million). The Melbourne, Australia-based molecular diagnostics firm said that it received 1,125 Brevagen samples during the quarter, and sales for the non-familial breast cancer risk assessment test increased 50 percent sequentially.
