As part of a series on DNA, NBC Nightly News covered genetic testing yesterday evening. In particular, they focused on the interpreting the results and the need for genetic counselors to help people understand what the tests mean, but adds that there is not much regulation of these tests. On her blog, Hsien-Hsien Lei writes, "Of course, it’s safer to recommend we all stay away from the scary unknowns of genetic testing but I firmly believe that educated consumers should be allowed to make their own decisions without the controlling arm of babysitters."
