As science and technology flourishes outside the US, domestic science education lags and many Americans remain ignorant of basic science -- or, refuse to accept basic scientific tenets like evolution and the Big Bang. The report “recommends increased financing for basic research and greater “intellectual interchange” between researchers in academia and industry,” the article says.
